You’re making software decisions with real money attached.
Fractional technical leadership for founders and operators — part-time, senior, and accountable for what gets decided. You get someone who has run the teams and built the systems, without carrying a full-time engineering salary before you need one.
When people call me
You raised, and there's no technical co-founder to make the call.
The senior engineering role has been open two months and the roadmap is waiting on it.
A dev shop or an AI agency delivered something, and you can't tell whether it's any good.
You're about to commit real money — a build, a hire, a platform — and want an independent read first.
What it covers
- Technical strategy and architecture decisions
- Vendor and tool evaluation — what to buy, build, or leave alone
- Whether AI belongs in your operation, and where it's a distraction
- Hiring, managing, and evaluating developers
- Technical due diligence
- A second opinion on what your current developer or agency is telling you
How engagements start
Nobody signs a retainer off a first call. It goes in this order.
A conversation — 30 minutes, free
You describe the decision in front of you. I tell you what I'd want to know before making it, and whether I'm the right person to help.
Technical Audit & Roadmap — $1,500–$2,500, two weeks
A straight read on what you have and a written plan for what to do about it: where the risk sits, what to build or buy, and a prioritized roadmap with effort and cost against each item. You own the document — it's usable with me, another developer, or an agency.
Fractional engagement — $3,000–$8,000 / month
Ongoing technical leadership at the pace the business needs. Scope and cadence agreed in writing, and no month is a surprise.
Who you’re working with
- Engineering Lead at Gecko Robotics, 2022–2025 — one of the first six engineers hired when a new Director of Software rebuilt the organization. Built their data platform from scratch and led the team of five behind it.
- Staff engineer at Bluecore, where I owned the rendering service behind 150M+ emails a day. Bringing the team to test-driven development cut Black Friday and Cyber Monday defects by 90%.
- Responsible for the reliability and uptime of mission-critical financial systems managing $200B+ in assets.
- Built production retrieval systems — RAG on Vertex AI and Pinecone — that answer questions from a company's own documents and data.
- Senior backend engineer and people manager before that — twenty years across venture-backed startups and financial systems.
The leadership is the front door. The building is the proof.
I take a founder’s vision and turn it into production software — most recently a member-facing community platform built, launched, and supported end to end for a non-technical founder.
So when I tell you a plan is realistic, I’m the one who’d have to build it.
Start with a conversation.
Thirty minutes on the decision in front of you. No pitch.
